Bringing Magic to the Stage with Imaginative Set Design
Scenic Solutions worked with a regional theater company to fabricate the scenic environment for a production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. The design needed to balance whimsical fairytale charm with theatrical functionality, creating a versatile and enchanting world for audiences of all ages.
Creating a Transformative and Story-Driven Environment
From Royal Ballrooms to Woodland Paths
The scenic elements were designed to support multiple magical locations, including the royal palace, the village square, and Cinderella’s humble home.
- Fabricated stylized flats, portals, staircases, and arches that shifted easily between scenes
- Applied elegant finishes, soft pastels, and ornate detailing to enhance the show’s romantic tone
- Incorporated specialty props and practical set pieces to support magical moments like the pumpkin transformation and costume reveals
Designed with Movement and Quick Changes in Mind
To accommodate frequent scene shifts and choreography:
- Scenic units were built on casters or modular frames for seamless transitions
- Construction reinforced for repeated use throughout an extended performance run
- Strategic use of layering and lighting enhanced depth without overwhelming the stage
Enchanting Audiences with Every Detail
From sparkling palace interiors to rustic cottage exteriors, the set created a fairytale world that supported both spectacle and intimacy. The scenic design helped transport audiences into a world where dreams come true and even the simplest moment can feel magical.
