Transforming Public Spaces Through Dynamic Lighting Design
Scenic Solutions was proud to partner with the Montgomery County Commissioners and Thelen Associates to design and install a custom exterior architectural lighting system for the Dayton Art Institute. This project showcases how lighting can elevate architecture, turning a historic building into a visually engaging nighttime landmark.
Durable Lighting Built for Outdoor Application
Engineered for Longevity and Impact
The Dayton Art Institute, a historic stone structure, required a lighting solution that could endure Ohio’s year-round weather conditions while highlighting architectural details.
- Fixtures rated for outdoor use, offering long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance
- Strategically placed lighting to enhance columns, cornices, and facade elements without overwhelming the building’s classic design
Lighting Scenes for Community Engagement
The system was pre-programmed with themed color palettes for national holidays, awareness campaigns, and seasonal events—allowing DAI to celebrate and communicate visually with its community.
- Static and dynamic lighting scenes
- Easily adjustable to align with the event calendar
- Helps draw attention to public initiatives and historic commemorations
Systems Integration that Balances Aesthetics and Function
Scenic Solutions handled the full systems design and integration, from fixture selection and wiring to software programming and scene testing. Every component was selected to meet safety codes, structural requirements, and the Dayton Art Institute’s historic preservation standards.
