Modernizing Stage Lighting at Maumee City Schools Performing Arts Center
Technology has changed since this theatre was built. LED (light emitting diode) lights are now readily available and economically preferable. They do not produce heat like incandescent lights, they do not require as much energy to run, and they have an exceptionally long life.
The school district encourages its students to “Be a part of a dynamic, fun-filled organization while building skills that can carry you into college and beyond,” not only as performers but also as technicians. They annually produce both a spring musical and a fall play.
Theatrical Stage Lighting System Upgrade
This project included:
- Removed all outdated equipment and incandescent lighting fixtures.
- Hung and focused new ETC LED luminaires focused (hung/hang = attaching the fixtures in place on the pipe; focus/focused = aiming the lights at the area of the stage they are supposed to cover)
- Installed and programmed a new ETC Ion Xe 20 Console to control the new lighting fixtures.
- Installed and programmed 2 new follow spots (large spotlights aimed by a technician to give extra light to a specific performer).
- Provided programming and training for the new lighting system.
